Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Elibro ("Elibro", "we", "us", or "our"), a service operated from Canada, collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information when you use the Elibro website, applications, and related services (the "Service"). We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws (including Quebec's Law 25). By using the Service, you consent to the practices described here and in our Terms of Service.
1. Who we are and how to contact us
Elibro is the organization responsible for the personal information collected through the Service. If you have questions, requests, or complaints about your privacy, you can reach our privacy contact at elibro8.ai@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of personal information:
- Account information: when you sign in (for example, using a third-party identity provider such as Google), we receive identifiers such as your name, email address, and profile information provided by that provider.
- Study content you provide: files, documents, notes, text, prompts, and chat messages you upload or enter into the Service ("User Content"), including extracted text from uploaded files. Please do not upload sensitive personal information you do not want processed.
- Generated content: flashcards, quizzes, long-answer question sets, summaries, explanations, model answers, chat responses, and related AI output created for you.
- Study activity and responses: your interactions with study materials, such as flashcard progress, quiz answers and results, long-answer drafts and submitted written responses, AI grading feedback, and saved model answers.
- Subscription and billing information: plan status, subscription identifiers, and limited billing metadata. Payment card details are handled by our payment processor (such as Stripe) and are not stored in full by Elibro.
- Usage and device information: basic technical data such as log data, approximate location derived from IP address, browser/device type, feature usage (including free-tier limits), and interactions with the Service, used for security, billing, and to operate and improve the Service.
- Communications: information you provide when you contact us for support or feedback.
3. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, maintain, and secure the Service and your account;
- Store uploaded files, extract text from them, and process your User Content with AI models to generate study materials, chat responses, grading feedback, and model answers you request;
- Save your studies, generated materials, written responses, and study progress (including flashcard, quiz, and long-answer activity) so you can access them later;
- Administer free-tier limits, subscriptions, billing, and customer support;
- Communicate with you, including responding to support requests and sending service-related notices;
- Monitor, troubleshoot, prevent fraud and abuse, and protect the security and integrity of the Service; and
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. Consent and legal basis
We collect, use, and disclose personal information with your consent, which may be express or implied depending on the sensitivity of the information and the circumstances. By uploading User Content and using features of the Service, you consent to that information being processed as described in this Policy, including being sent to the third-party processors listed below.
You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice, by deleting the relevant content, closing your account, or contacting us. Withdrawing consent may prevent us from providing some or all of the Service.
5. AI processing
To generate study materials, chat responses, long-answer grading feedback, and model answers, your User Content, prompts, and written responses you submit for practice may be transmitted to third-party AI providers (such as Google's Gemini models) that process the content on our behalf to return output to you. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your User Content to train our own machine-learning models. The AI providers process data under their own terms and applicable data-processing commitments.
Automated grading and feedback are generated by AI and may be inaccurate. They are provided to help you study and are not a formal evaluation by Elibro or any institution.
6. Service providers and disclosure
We share personal information only as necessary to operate the Service, including with service providers that process data on our behalf, such as:
- Cloud hosting, database, and authentication providers (for example, Supabase) that store your account data, study metadata, progress, and related records;
- Object storage providers (for example, Cloudflare R2) that store files you upload;
- AI model providers (for example, Google) that generate content, grading feedback, and chat responses from your inputs; and
- Payment processors (for example, Stripe) that handle subscriptions and billing, and other infrastructure providers that help us host, secure, and operate the Service.
These providers are authorized to use personal information only to provide services to us and are required to protect it. We may also disclose personal information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Elibro, our users, or the public. If Elibro is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
7. Storage and international transfers
Your personal information may be stored and processed in Canada and in other countries, including the United States, where our service providers operate. As a result, your information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, and may be accessible to courts, law enforcement, and national-security authorities in those jurisdictions. We take reasonable steps to ensure that service providers offer a comparable level of protection for your personal information. You may contact us for more information about our transfer practices.
8. Data retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Service and for the purposes described in this Policy, or as required by law. Your studies, User Content, uploaded files, generated materials, written responses, study progress, and billing records are retained while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. When you delete content or close your account, we will delete or de-identify the associated personal information within a reasonable period, except for limited copies retained in backups, records we must keep for billing, tax, or legal compliance, or as required to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements.
9. Your privacy rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you and request information about how it has been used and disclosed;
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information;
- Withdraw your consent to our processing (subject to legal or contractual limits);
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal information; and
- Request portability of certain information, and, where required by applicable provincial law (such as Quebec's Law 25), additional rights regarding automated processing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at elibro8.ai@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. There is generally no charge, though we may charge a reasonable fee where permitted.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification. These include encryption in transit, access controls, and use of reputable infrastructure providers. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies that are necessary to operate the Service — for example, to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may affect how the Service works.
12. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate parental or guardian consent. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information without your consent, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it. Users who are minors should use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
14. Complaints
If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first at elibro8.ai@gmail.com so we can try to resolve it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or, if applicable, with your provincial privacy regulator (such as the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec).
